poomps.com began as an html learning experience back in 2003. since then, the site has been transformed in so many ways. the most recent and significant changes were in 2006, when i decided to use a cms to manage the process for me. at that point, i chose e107. it was php-based, appeared to be very flexible and extensible, and seemed easy enough to learn.

e107 was just what i needed. it had a great amount of modules to work with and presented a really great site when all was said and done. however, a few security issues appeared and some functionality i wanted was unavailable on e107, so i decided to do some more research.

and then i came across drupal. i have to say, i have soooo much to learn, however, i am very excited at the prospects available on this cms. the community is fantastic, and i can't stop from browsing at all the wonderful modules there are to choose from.

one other thing that really excites me is how professional the websites look. as someone who has been doing website design on the side, this is really proving to be a good solution, especially for those requesting community-like sites.

so thanks for reading as i embark on my journey with drupal. it will not all be smooth sailing, and though i have hit some pebbles, i do know there are more significant bumps in the road awaiting me. but hey, that's life. it's about the journey, not the destination.
